Paper wallets

Analog is not automatically safe.

Paper backups: when they help and how they fail.

A paper wallet is usually a printed or handwritten backup of keys or a seed — useful when you want something offline that does not depend on a phone battery.

Paper fails in ordinary ways: water, fire, fading ink, being photographed ‘just in case,’ or left in a drawer someone else can find.

If you use paper, treat it like cash in a safe: offline, durable packaging, no cloud photos, and a tested restore path.

For many people a metal seed backup plus a hardware wallet is calmer than a clever DIY printout. Pick boring on purpose.
