Wallets explained (UK)
The wallet question is really a trust question.
Custodial vs self-custody, phone vs hardware, and what ‘not your keys’ means.
An exchange wallet is convenient and fragile: the company holds the keys. Fine for tiny experiments; poor as a life vault.
A self-custody wallet puts responsibility on you. That is freedom and liability in the same box.
Hardware wallets reduce malware risk for larger balances. Phone wallets are fine for learning amounts if you back up the seed offline.
UK angle: keep records for your own sanity. This is not tax advice — it is future-you protection.
