Seed phrases — UK plain-English guide

Your seed phrase is the master key — anyone with it can empty the wallet.

What a recovery phrase is, where it must never go, and how to store it calmly.

A seed (recovery) phrase is a list of words that recreates wallet keys. Screenshots, cloud notes, and ‘helpful’ websites are attack surfaces.

Write it offline. Store it somewhere only you control. Never enter it to ‘sync,’ ‘claim,’ or ‘validate’ on a site you did not intentionally set up yourself.

If you already typed a seed into a suspicious page, assume the funds are compromised and move remaining value to a new wallet after creating fresh keys offline.

Pair this with the self-custody checklist before you move sizeable amounts.
